SNL comedian returns home to perform at Bedford High School

Katelyn Dobbs - Encore

BEDFORD – Larry and Hilary Meyers discovered their oldest son, Seth, had a knack for storytelling at an early age.

“In the days leading up to the end of (grade) school, Hilary and I were worried about Seth finishing up his family history project,” Larry Meyers said. “We kept asking him, ‘Do you need to call Grandma or do you need any family pictures?’ ‘No, no’ he said.

“The end of school came, and Hilary was cleaning out Seth’s backpack and she found his family history project. He received an A+. The only problem with the project was, everything was made up.”

“He’s been writing and making up stories ever since,” Hilary Meyers said.

I always squeal when I hear the Weekend Update jingle

Back Story:
So, Seth Meyers came to my school yesterday, my birthday, to do stand up and a Q&A, free for the public. So, of course, since I absolutely love SNL, and hope to maybe produce it one day, I had to go see him. I made a sign, that said “Dear Seth! It’s my BIRTHDAY. Will you take a picture with me?” I get in line at 5, forty people back from the front, and the gates don’t open until 7. I get in, and run to the best open public seat. I’m about 5 rows up on the bleachers, at perfect eye level for Seth, dead center, about 100 feet away from the stage. So the lights go down and he comes out and does his stand up, which was absolutely hilarious. Then they bring up the lights for the Q&A and I’m trying to show my sign but he doesn’t see it. So I wait, and as soon as the Q&A finishes he’s looking around thanking the audience when he sees it. He starts murmuring in the mic “Hey Seth… birthday… picture… with me” and says “Yeah, sure! Get this girl down here.” WHAT?! The whole audience was staring in disbelief as I screamed, threw down my sign and ran to the nearest entrance to the stage area. Seriously, though. One of the coolest moments of my life. Never thought it would actually happen. Happy Birthday, to me!
